"Bric-A-Brac " Synopsis:

" Bric-A-Brac " is a mini "road movie" set in an old community in Hong Kong.

"Community" is a peculiar word; it doesn't carry the same warmth as "family," but for some, like the characters in this story who do not have an ideal family, on this night, they "have" each other.

Auntie Siu, in her seventies, once again endures cruel and unreasonable threats and abuse from her son at home. Having endured it all her life, she decides to push the old sofa that should have been discarded long ago out of her home and walks alone to the garbage dump. At the corner of the street at midnight, Auntie Siu runs into her old neighbor, Uncle Tang, whom she has known for over thirty years.

Throughout the night, the two of them make stops and push the worn-out and heavy sofa, walking through the quiet old streets, convenience stores, parks, overpass bottoms, and finally to the garbage dump. Along the way, they encounter different people, objects, and the lonely scenery.

This journey reveals the problems they face with their families and the tangled bonds by blood. The assistance of old friends brings a little warmth and vitality to the grieving Auntie Siu. However, the cruel reality remains desolate and repetitive.

With lighting, scenes, sound, and editing, the audience is immersed in the sweltering night sky, walking through the old community in Hong Kong alongside the two main characters.

Through a gentle and compassionate perspective, we feel their fatigue, disappointment, concern, worry, helplessness, and the act of "letting go."

On this "journey," both of them have changed.

Between old age and death, there is still a segment of life.
